The Betfred ‘Top of the Pots’ Order of Merit

Will you be Top of the Pots?

All season there will be a series of Prediction Contests to keep viewers of the blog entertained and of course, competitive. Each event will feed into a ‘Top of the Pots’ Order of Merit list which will reward both consistency and workmanship.

How the ‘Top of the Pots’ List works

We will be operating along the lines of the new rolling ranking list under Barry Hearn’s chairmanship. In that, only your scores from the previous three events will count towards your overall Order of Merit Ranking.

This means that anyone entering an event for the first time has the chance to rise to the top after their first three, no matter at what point in the year you enter.

However, in the event of a tie at the top at the end of the season, total frames over your best five events will determine the winner, so it’s in your interest to enter as many competitions as you can to build up your ‘back up’ frame score.

I’ll also endeavour to secure a prize for the person with the best overall total for the season, as it’s only fair to also acknowledge the consistent journeyman pro’s.

World Championship Sponsors Betfred will be providing prizes for each of the events covered and the overall list.

  4. They change with each competition Mignon, when the prize is confirmed I’ll post up the rules to the next one on the main page. It will be based on you picking a team of players and how many frames they win.

  6. I’d definitely have you as Ali Carter Ray, ultra-consistent and a win marks you up. Well done! Did you just say anus by the way? I’ll have to bar you if you did. But I found the post http://snookerbacker.com/2010/05/19/who-will-be-ranked-number-one-at-the-end-of-next-season/ it was before they changed the ranking system, so not sure without checking here http://prosnookerblog.com/rankings/201011-provisional-rankings/ regularly how of a chance it has without having a maths degree.

  7. I’d say I’m basking in the glory snookerbacker, I’m a journeyman made good, I am Ali Carter and Dave Harold’s love child. I fear my glory might be short lived though, but your 28/1 on el capitano to be numero uno at the end of the annus is a bet I’m quite envious of, where did you flag that up?

Regardless of that, ace competition and keeping journeymen snooker fans like myself interested again in the baize. Finals are boring though at the moment.

    Welcome aboard.

One of the joys of the new ranking system is that it rewards those that enter everything. Much like hard working players like your first choice :)
