Did Si-Ting Chi=Lee help you with that Pete? However, due to it’s naffness, I love it and will link it in this morning’s post for each lucky reader

As I am excited and cannot sleep, I have made this (rather rubbish) wallchart that im now giving FREE TO EVERY READER much in the manner of the sun et al.
http://img857.imageshack.us/img857/338/snookerdraw.png
Once again appologies for its rubbishness, you’ll also have to score out the loser of the first round as due to a glaring design flaw there is no place to write the winner in, I have sacked the designer.

Big Jan has been given the World final to ref again for the 4th time well deserved it has to be said

Hi lolo – no, there is a random draw for the first round of the Crucible when the seeds are in one hat and the qualifiers in another. It’s exclusive in Betfred betting shops (no use to you!) I think at the end of March.
Comment by snookerbacker — March 5, 2011 @ 7:04 pm Reply
SB, does the draw above corresponds to the qualifiers’ draw [here: http://www.snookerbacker.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/World-Qual-Draw.pdf - is Roberston playing M Davis [or his opponent] from last round of qualifying stage, Fu – Perry, Dott – Wenbo, and so on?
Comment by lolo — March 5, 2011 @ 7:00 pm Reply
Wenbo looks to be playing his way into some sort of form. Not sure the 4/7 is the greatest bet in the world but probably going to be that at worst in this kind of form if her faces Burnett and chnace that it could be Hicks or Wattana
Comment by Thorpy — March 2, 2011 @ 3:06 pm Reply
Placed my bets on the to qualify for the crucible. Swail 7/2. Bond 12/5. Harold 5/2. Burnett 9/4. Jimmy 9′s. Also had some very small stakes on a few log shots. Issara,Maffers,McBain and Song
Comment by onestep — March 2, 2011 @ 1:58 pm Reply
Has the date for the random draw been set yet?
Comment by onestep — February 21, 2011 @ 3:25 pm Reply
Why is Dott so undervalued, constantly? Was for last year worlds, was for Welsh Open, is again for this year’s worlds?
Comment by lolo — February 20, 2011 @ 11:34 pm Reply
@snookerbacker: Don’t think even Bazza would dare mess with this one
Comment by onestep — February 20, 2011 @ 5:07 pm Reply
Barring a last minute announcement of a random draw by Bazza, this is the possible last 16 line up if all the seeds come through.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 20, 2011 @ 5:03 pm Reply
@Drumm: Yes it is the definite draw Fu will play Robbo if they both win their 1st round games
Comment by onestep — February 20, 2011 @ 4:56 pm Reply
chaps,
is that the definite draw, or just the seedings, ie, are Fu and Robertson due to play each other in the second round should they win.
Comment by Drumm — February 20, 2011 @ 4:47 pm Reply
@snookerbacker: Yes I agree my mistake was thinking he was still in the 16 been a while since he has been out of it. Agree about Wenbo but you never know with him he is a very good player just has a terrible safety game
Comment by onestep — February 20, 2011 @ 4:09 pm Reply
@onestep: I’d probably cross off Wenbo the way he’s playing, Hawkins isn’t great there. Mark Davis, Marcus Campbell, Dom Dale, Higginson and King are others I’d want to avoid. King in particular.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 20, 2011 @ 4:06 pm Reply
Maybe Lisowski but not this year I think
Comment by onestep — February 20, 2011 @ 3:59 pm Reply
@snookerbacker: Judd/Bingham/Day/Stevens/Gould/Wenbo/Hawkins and Lee can’t see any other player causing the top 16 probs. Agree?
Comment by onestep — February 20, 2011 @ 3:58 pm Reply
Should we turn the discussion onto the qualifiers that they will all want to avoid?
Comment by snookerbacker — February 20, 2011 @ 3:08 pm Reply
onestep,i agree selby has a decent draw for sheffield, but i just don’t see any value in his price,i have taken the 25′s with stan james on maguire this year, i think that could be the value, especially as he always seems to get the better of mjw,who is in his 1/4.
Comment by chris — February 20, 2011 @ 3:05 pm Reply
Chris I do agree with most of your comments however, Selby’s draw is a good one and I think its hard not to see him make the semi finals. For a player to make the final and then the semi final of two consecutive ranking events these days is no mean feat and while I agree he is not the same player that won the masters he is still coming into form at the right time and remains dangerous. I do feel his shot selection at times lets him down. I find it amazing that he is wiling to go for dangerous plants and “pool” type shots yet turns down some long balls which he is good at that could win him frames. Sometimes by playing in such a negative way he simply ends up presenting his opponent so many half chances they are going to take one sooner or later. Also a problem with this style of play is that it tends to lead to long drawn out matches which may lead to him being drained by the end of the tournament. All these points tell me not to bet him yet I have and I still think he will win it in the next 3 years maybe this year if he can be a bit more positive
Comment by onestep — February 20, 2011 @ 12:48 pm Reply
having been a backer of selby for the last 2 years, i will now be laying him big time, both in china and the world.he is NOT the same player as he was a year ago,he cannot score as well, his safety is not up to scratch, his long potting has deteriorated, and his concentration is not what it used to be.
Comment by chris — February 20, 2011 @ 11:40 am Reply

Two deciders and two 5-3′s since 2001.

Do we know the top 16 now? Can we start looking at the possible draw. I’m still not 100% sure how it works I.E I know 1 plays 16 in round 2 but would love to see it in full if thats possible?
Comment by onestep — February 19, 2011 @ 10:25 am Reply
Higgins, Murphy and Ronnie are likely to be in the same quarter now after Williams lost today. Not a bad draw for Higgins that.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 18, 2011 @ 6:01 pm Reply
Ding or Williams are my tips before I’ve checked the draws – in any event this is as wide open as ever before and I can’t wait!
Comment by bigclive — February 18, 2011 @ 11:36 am Reply
Potentially also a decent draw to the QF’s for Mark Selby who will be likely to face Hendry or a qualifier in the last 16 before meeting Ding if seedings work out.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 18, 2011 @ 10:14 am Reply
Looks like Ronnie will be playing either Higgins or MJW in the Quarter Finals judging by the seedings going into Welsh finals weekend.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 18, 2011 @ 10:11 am Reply
First foolish bet now he’s assured of a first round slot is Hendry at 80/1. A trade.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 17, 2011 @ 7:39 pm Reply
Anyone of these 4 players for me this year Higgins/Selby/Williams/Robertson best outsider Allen
Comment by onestep — February 17, 2011 @ 7:21 pm Reply
Massive chance for a Hendry maximum here.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 17, 2011 @ 7:10 pm Reply
@snookerbacker: Murphy now is playing horrible, but i think that he will do fine at the Crucible.
We have also MJW who is really on fire… 8/1
i think i will not enter with less than 8/1
Comment by Dani Martínez — February 17, 2011 @ 6:33 pm Reply
Murphy tends to play better over the longer format Dani but I just can’t have him as World Champion. With Ding, he’s got everything except his form at the Crucible. I don’t think he likes it there, but he’s maturing. He will win it in the next 5 years I’m sure of that, but I’m not sure if he can do it this year.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 17, 2011 @ 6:27 pm Reply
Ding Junhui 10/1
Murphy 18/1
nowadays i like that
Comment by Dani Martínez — February 17, 2011 @ 6:24 pm Reply
Stan James 1st firm to go 13/2 Ronnie
Comment by onestep — February 17, 2011 @ 4:05 pm Reply
@Black Whippet: 1.01 Ronnie NOT to go to China
Comment by onestep — February 17, 2011 @ 1:55 pm Reply
Ronnie said he had had two hours practice in a week, one hour yesterday in Wales and one last week. In answer to your question I think around 12/1.
Comment by snookerbacker — February 17, 2011 @ 1:52 pm Reply
@onestep: As i said the other day 13/2 …. but after yesterdays performance, although DAY played well and there was the old glimpses of magic i may have to say bigger than that!
A lack of match situation practice (missing the German Masters) and who knows what sort of time hes spending on the practice tables (maybe not much) means I dont think i will be backing him at any sort of price less than 8/1.
Will he go to China in preperation for Sheffield, only Ronnie knows but the way hes gone on all year Id say he may be a doubt.
Personally I can only see him going 15/2 in places but only if he doesnt go to China or goes and has a short trip. Otherwise his price will be 6/1 maybe 13/2 biggest come the start in Sheffield.
Comment by Black Whippet — February 17, 2011 @ 1:49 pm Reply
MINI TOPIC…..At what price does Ronnie become a bet rather than a lay for this years event?
Comment by onestep — February 17, 2011 @ 1:36 pm Reply
I have front row tickets for all quarter final sessions and am really looking forward to going again this year. In terms of winners I think Shaun Murphy is worth backing at this juncture. His price is now as big as it is going to get. He is a long-format player. In the season he won the UK Championship I think he lost every single best of 9 game he played. Quite bizarre really.
The way he ground Ding down at Sheffield last year sticks in the mind and I can see him having another good run this year.
Comment by The Snooker Oracle — February 17, 2011 @ 12:49 pm Reply
for me Mark Allen @ 18/1 and Mark Selby @ 9/1 are the standouts, good regular solid form at the crucible. Arguments can be made in favour of others, but ill go with these 2, fingers crossed they arent in the same side of the draw
