It’s already been a pulsating few days over at Ponds Forge and dreams of Crucible walk-ons as well as tour survival have been both boosted and shattered. We’ve even had a 147, only the third ever in the qualifiers. We now get to the second rung of the dream ladder where we will see who makes it through to Judgement Day and the fight for a coveted spot at snooker’s Theatre of Dreams.
So far it’s mostly gone with form, but that’s not to say there haven’t been a few shocks. Reanne Evans of course grabbed the headlines with her win over Robin Hull but we’ve also seen Hammad Miah (Walden) Alexander Snookerbacker (Milkins) and Syd Wilson (Kurt Maflin) coming through against the odds. It’s proof if ever it were needed that the tension out there is like no other and literally, anything can happen. Happily my merry band of eight potential qualifiers remain in tact and ready to face another day.
From here on in it’s Round 2 today and tomorrow before Judgement Day match ups start on Tuesday with all final sessions and Crucible deciders being played on Wednesday, said Judgement Day. World Snooker will be broadcasting live all day on their Facebook page as well as Eurosport Player and if last year is anything to go by it is well worth you skiving off work/school to watch. If you are lucky enough to be on benefits, in hospital with something serious or in prison that’s Wednesday sorted.
So let’s have a look at what is in store for today and tomorrow. Any value out there?
