Mark Williams and Michael Holt Press Conferences

Filed under: snookerbacker @ 5:47 pm

Mark Williams won the bromance, Michael Holt arguably missed the boat a little in the first session of the match but Mark was very close to his floatmanlike best for the rest of it.

Afterwards they both again mentioned the table, Williams stopping short of revealing what the solution is for fear of being fined. This is farcical behaviour in the world’s biggest event by the governing body, table one has already ruined the first week and we shouldn’t still be talking about it when it is obviously still sub-standard. Holt described the contests on the table being effectively a ‘best guesser’ contest, who can disagree?

Alan McManus and Ali Carter Press Conferences

Alan McManus made it through to the quarter finals with a 13-11 win over Ali Carter in a match which never really got going. understandably afterwards there was much comment about the table from both players. It’s clearly in a terrible state and for me ruined this match as entertainment. A bit late now for Ali but I hope they sort it out soon.

Fu and McGill Press Conferences

Filed under: snookerbacker @ 8:21 am

Marco Fu is the first name into the Quarter Finals after a 13-9 victory over Scotland’s Anthony McGill. Marco revealed afterwards that he has been suffering from a painful neck injury that meant just a few days ago he couldn’t even get down on the shot, now he faces a possible tussle with Ronnie O’Sullivan, should The Rocket take care of Barry Hawkins in Round 2. Here is what Marco and Ants had to say after the match.
