Day Three Press Conferences from The Crucible

Filed under: snookerbacker @ 2:40 pm

It’s Day Three in Sheffield and already a certain Mr O’Sullivan has stolen the headlines, not this time for what he said, but rather what he didn’t say.

A slightly dishevelled looking Rocket turned up this morning to see out his win over Dave Gilbert, who played incredibly well in defeat and actually confirmed afterwards that he has never played so well and lost.

We could have kept him here for a lot longer had we known what was to come, which was an announcement from World Snooker that Ronnie was refusing to leave his dressing room and speak to us, even boycotting the BBC. He faces disciplinary action, which I’m sure won’t really bother him too much but the theorists are already trying to second guess what it’s all about.

But rather than play amateur psychologist, here’s what the unlucky loser Gilbert had to say, Dave also broke the news to me earlier that he’s the blog’s biggest fan, so he can expect that not to be mentioned that much, honest.

The afternoon saw Mark Williams complete a comfortable win over Graeme Dott by 10 frames to 4. Afterwards, Graeme had a few words to say about how difficult this is going to be for a qualifier to win whilst Mark was his usual deadpan self, descending the press room into giggles at the end, as he does…some great one liners in there from MJ.

Following these the evening session saw wins for Ricky Walden and Sam Baird, over very disappointed opponents Robbie Williams and Michael White, you can hear what they all had to say below:
