World Open Day One
Day One in China is dominated largely by the Wildcard Round and it’s not really one I want to get heavily involved in from a betting perspective, more out of principle than anything.
I don’t really see any solid bets in the first session though I would not be at all surprised if Nigel Bond was beaten by his very useful young wildcard. I will have a look at the second one in the morning, but on balance it’s a day to just hope all the players that deserve to be there get through.

Aye, she should probably stick to the rugby

where did they get the female presenter on ITV4? she struggles to string a sentence together! Davis v Milkins should be a good game.

@White Cafu – Jamie Cope’s match replaces it

So what’s the 11.30 line up then if Burns isn’t playing?

@ANON – seems a pretty regular occurence, can’t see why this can’t be better co-ordinated.

First mention of ‘steady’ Eddie Charlton – wonder how many Clive will manage over the tournament…
Heart goes out to Walden – have had very anxious moments waiting for baggage in China and cannot imagine what it would be like trusting my cue (i.e. my livelihood) to airport baggage handlers. Have World Snooker ever looked at a more secure way of doing this?

Will we again be without first sessions on streams/tv/betting sites?

I think they have cocked up the scheduling on this and have had to re-jig it. Spoken to Burnsy and he’s playing on Tuesday now.

My top tips for day one:
Favs:
David Gilbert (Pinnacle 1.75) vs Lu Ning, wild card has got potential but in my opinion DG is better player than his odds show
Underdogs:
Peter Ebdon (Ladbrokes 2.2) vs Ricky Walden, Walden hasn’t been in form since the beginning of the season
Robert Milkins (5/4 Apollobet) vs Mark Davis, Milkins has been good in 2013, Davis hasn’t been playing as well as last year
Saleh Mohammad (4/1 sportingbet) vs Ian Burns, Burns is a solid, steady player but the odds for Mohammad are just something really unbelievable.
