The Masters Day One

The Robster

This afternoon sees the start of one of the highlights of the snooker season, the Masters from Alexandra Palace. It’s not so much a mouth-watering opener as a salivate down your chin and upper torso and wear a man-sized bib one as Neil Robertson, the defending champion takes on the man he succeeded as champion Ding Junhui.

As if that wasn’t enough to have snooker fans lathering into an epileptic-like frenzy, tonight sees Mark Allen take to the baize against for me the most improved player of the past twelve months Dark Mavis.

That one might not grab the attention that the earlier encounter does but as so often happens it’s sometimes the match with less of the fanfare in advance that produces the fireworks, we shall see.

For anyone who has been hospitalised or in prison for the last week and hasn’t yet read my full tournament preview click here to do so.

The blog partners Apollobet have put an offer on which should be noted by anyone who likes their match bets. If a match goes to a deciding frame and your single bet on either the winner of the match, handicap bet, correct score or any other market they offer ducks they will refund your stake in full .

Given that this tournament pits the cream of the crop on the baize against each other and very little seperates any of them, we could well see a few deciders this week so if you are planning to launch on the singles or any other markets on a match, bear this offer in mind as it will make any deciding frame where you are in heavy a lot easier to watch, you may not even need the ankle clips which traditionally are donned in such circumstances to avoid any unpleasant accidents.

You can take a look at all Apollobet’s match prices here and you can open an account with them and receive a free matched bet to the value of your first bet up to £20 by clicking here.

For me, the two winners today will be Robertson and Allen, but it could also easily be Ding and Mavis such is the unpredictability of this prestigious event. The winners of the two matches today will meet in the Quarter Finals. I’m going to be doing some cross-double bets (also known from henceforth as ‘The Hallett’) on the correct scores for interest this week, small stakes with decent returns if they land.

It all kicks off at 1pm UK time and I for one will be glued to the screen and making an arse-shaped dent in the sofa for most of the week. The best of luck with your bets.

Recommended Bet: 4 x 0.5 point Hallett’s on: Robertson to win 6-4 (6/1) or 6-5 (6/1) and Allen to win 6-3 (6/1) or 6-4 (11/2) with Apollobet
