It’s Finals Day in Munich and today is the day we will find out not only who wins the final PTC of the season but also the players that will form the field for the Grand Finals in Galway in March.
It’s getting interesting as far as places for the big event are concerned, Kurt Maflin played himself into the Finals yesterday but could theoretically be bumped out again if he loses to Rod Lawler and a combination of Thanawat, Pengfei and Dott progress to the Final. The player in the most danger of dropping out is Mark Joyce who is hanging on to the final place at the moment and by my reckoning he will be relegated if Dott beats Ben Woollaston.
Of the remaining eight players only Selby, Gould, Lawler and Woollaston are guaranteed to be playing in the Finals at this point in time so there is still a lot at stake for the others and still a number of permutations that can happen including the possibility of a three way tie for the final place which brings Alfie Burden and Dark Mavis into play with Maffers, it could be very entertaining when the powers that be decide who can play and who can’t.
Famously, well in snooker circles anyway, it was left to Matt from Pro Snooker Blog to advise the governing body last season as to who should be in the Grand Finals after they made a mistake. The devilish part of me would like it to get complicated and controversial again just to see what happens.

Finally, you have to say well done to Martin Gould, he could easily have thrown in the towel in this one with being drawn to play at midday tomorrow in the Championship League at Crondon Park, but he’s still in there fighting and according to my shrewd spy over there is playing the best stuff out of everyone left in it.
Anyway, as ever match prices are updated throughout the day at Apollobet and you can see those by clicking here.
The first session double on favourites Gould and Dott pays 11/8 so it’s 2 points on that for me. While in the second session I’d be prepared to side with Thanawat to cause an upset at 11/4, a point on that. The other match between Lawler and Maflin, I’d just back to go to a decider and pick a winner, both 4-3 outcomes are 9/2 and I’ll have a point on Maflin to win 4-3.
Here is today’s line up (Central European Time).
Graeme Dott 4-3 Ben Woollaston
Tian Pengfei 4-2 Martin Gould
Mark Selby 4-0 Thanawat Thirapongpaiboon
Kurt Maflin 3-4 Rod Lawler
Selby 4-1 Pengfei
Lawler 0-4 Dott
Selby 4-3 Dott
