The Brazilian Masters in a (Brazil) Nutshell

Filed under: snookerbacker @ 9:41 am

I know, it's shameless isn't it?

Tomorrow sees the start of the first ever Brazilian Masters from the Costao do Santinho Resort, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The event is being covered extensively on Eurosport and gives us all a chance to enjoy some snooker ‘samba style’, whatever that means.

The event should have included most of the world’s top 16 players, but the likes of Ronnie, Mark Williams, John Higgins, Ding Junhui, Judd Trump, Neil Robertson, Stephen Maguire, Mark Allen and Matthew Stevens all declined their invitation to play, much to the anger of Big Bad Bazza who was clearly in ‘name and shame’ mood when hearing their excuses, as reported a month ago here.

In terms of betting on the event, with it being an invitational tournament which I would guess will be more about entertaining than actual competition, I’d keep stakes to interest levels only. There is prize money on offer though so the boys will be looking to get as much of that as they can.

I’ve had a nibble at Ali at 8/1 and Stuart Bingham at 16/1, just for something to follow more than anything. The Captain has a decent draw to the semi-finals so would probably be my main bet, despite his disappointing recent form. Bingo has Selby first up but if he can win that the 16/1 will look big.

Recommended bets:

1 point each way Ali Carter at 7/1 Skybet

0.5 points each way Stuart Bingham at 16/1 Betfred
