Top of the Pots World Open Prediction Contest: Entries Invited.

Filed under: snookerbacker @ 12:28 pm

It’s time for Event 4 on the ‘Top of the Pots’ Order of Merit. This time we head from Sheffield, via Shanghai to Scotland for the World Open in Glasgow which starts on Saturday.

For anyone unfamiliar with the concept, it’s pretty basic. We have a rolling ranking list based on your predictions over the last three contests, the standings after the first three events are listed here with Ray at the moment leading the rankings.

There are also prizes for winners of individual events, supplied by kind sponsors Betfred.

You select players, the number of frames these players win counts towards your overall frame score both in the individual events and the final Order of Merit. Simple.

In terms of the Order of Merit Standings, after this latest event, the first event will be deducted from total frame scores and replaced by your score in this one. Meaning that even anyone entering for the first time has the chance to make an immediate impression on the top 16. The more contests you enter, the greater chance you have of topping the ranking list at the end of the season for a ‘bumper prize’.

Kind sponsors Betfred are again donating a £50 free bet to the winner of this week’s competition.

EVENT 4 RULES:

As this event is a little different, I thought it might be fun to mix the prediction contest up a bit.

Firstly, you must select a winner from each of the first 11 matches televised, listed below:

Saturday September 18
2.30pm
Neil Robertson v Graeme Dott
Ali Carter v Thepchaiya Un-Nooh
Stephen Maguire v Stuart Pettman

7pm
Steve Davis v Peter Ebdon
Shaun Murphy v Dave Harold

Sunday September 19
2pm
Stephen Hendry v Bjorn Haneveer
Mark Williams v Igor Figueiredo
Ding Junhui v Adrian Gunnell

7pm
Jimmy White v Paul Davison
Mark Selby v Barry Hawkins

Monday September 20
12.30pm
Ronnie O’Sullivan v Mark King

The frame scores from your eleven selections (a maximum score of 33) will form your base frame score for the rest of the tournament. Your only scoring players after this time will be the further five you pick from the list below.

You should as part of your entry then select five players from the following list of further contenders:

Judd Trump, Marco Fu, Martin Gould, Fergal O’Brien, Ricky Walden, Matthew Stevens, Andrew Higginson, Joe Jogia, Marcus Campbell, Liu Song, Alan McManus, Jimmy Michie, Nigel Bond, Mark Davis, David Morris, Stephen Lee, Mike Dunn, James McBain, Matthew Couch, Ken Doherty, Jamie Cope.

To to summarise, your entry in the comments section below should have a total of 16 names, 11 match winners and 5 others. The frames won in your match predictions will be added to the frame scores of your five players to decide the winner.

It’s one entry per person and please remember to fill in the email address box above your comment for it to count.

Good Luck!
